My Life is My Pride!

My Life is My Pride!

June is here and I am excited to celebrate my love, my life, everyone in the LGBTQ community and the milestones of change we celebrate during Pride Month. This year, we also honor the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, otherwise known as the Stonewall Uprising, in which members of the LGBTQ community fought back against harassment from the police in Greenwich Village in June 1969. We, as a country, have come so far since then and should be proud of our progress. We still have a long way to go to ensure we can come together as a worldwide community to celebrate diversity and love.

Over the years, I have seen the people in my life and across the globe become more inclusive and tolerant. No matter who you love, how you look or what you believe - we should all be able to live in a world full of love and without judgement or shame. There is still room for change though. Unfortunately, there are still people who be believe the LGBTQ community shouldn’t have the same rights (or any at all) as heterosexuals. This doesn’t only have an affect on someone’s social life but also in the workplace in fear of discrimination or worse. There is still lots of educating and advocating that needs to be done and we can all help. I believe in supporting organizations and companies whose purpose and ethos also support the LGBTQ community. This month, I am excited to highlight some of those companies on my site and via my platforms! I am thrilled to be partnering with GLAAD and eBay for Charity where I am auctioning off a Cooking Experience for 3 at MESA BURGER in Santa Barbara. 100% of proceeds will be going to GLAAD!

If you would like to learn more or donate to any of these amazing organizations who work hard to support LGBTQ community, you can do so by clicking on the logos below.

To me, Pride Month means freedom, tolerance and being proud of who I am. It is a time where our community and the world get to celebrate our history, present and future together. As a family, we come together and talk about what having Pride means. It gives us a very important teaching moment on tolerance and acceptance and makes our family bond even stronger. We also celebrate! We love going to the Pride Parade near us and then have a wonderful meal with family and friends. I celebrate my love and my life all day, every day but in June it is so exciting for everyone to celebrate Pride together!
